A big thank you from the Research & Intelligence team

Written by Adele Gilpin

On behalf of the Research & Intelligence team, I would like to take this opportunity to thank schools for submitting their Census data to us. We know that January is a busy time and filling in a Census form is not the first thing you want to be doing after a relaxing Christmas holiday. Nevertheless, we really do appreciate the time you have taken to provide us with the data. The Research & Intelligence team are now trawling through the mountain of figures that has been collected in order to compile the ISC Census 2009 publication. This document will be released to schools and the press at the end of April. You can find previous editions of this document here. All information displayed on the school profile pages on the ISC website will also be updated soon to reflect changes made by schools in their Census forms.

Collecting the Census data online has been a huge benefit to us as it saves time (for both ISC and schools), allows instant error checking and speeds up the turnaround of data. We welcome any feedback that schools have about the online process: if you have any comments about the Census data collection procedure, please let us know by emailing research@isc.co.uk. All feedback is welcome and we will take your views into account when planning for the 2010 Census collection.

After the Census report has been compiled and released to schools, work continues on the busy research desk. We have a calendar teeming with events this year and will also be running the staple data collection exercises. These include School Fee Updates, University Applications and A-Level/GCSE/IGCSE/IB exam result collections. You can see a complete list of the data collection exercises throughout the year in the “Important dates for schools” section of the ISC website, in the Research area. Although we will be notifying schools well in advance of all data collection activities, we recommend that you mark these events in your calendar in preparation.

Without your data, we would not be able to create such well-respected publications such as the Census and Bulletins, or represent our schools with accurate and reliable data to the press. Many thanks for your continued participation and co-operation.
